Dear Hillcrest Families:
I hope that everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday season. This school year is really flying by! It is hard to believe that we are going to be starting the second semester next week. To keep things exciting during these colder months we have some fun activities taking place.
Starting with a celebration for the students at the end of the quarter! We will be having a movie and popcorn in the gym and revisiting some of our Bee Camp training skills.
At the end of the month on Friday, January 31st, we will be having a family Bingo Night. Doors will open at 5:30 and bingo starts at 6:00. There will be food, prizes, and raffle items. It should be a great time for everyone. Then we will move into February with
Jump Rope for Heart. Exercise is such an important part of developing healthy goals and habits for a life time. Jump Rope for Heart will not only do that for your child it will raise money for research. We will be learning jump rope skills in gym class and during recess. Let’s make Hillcrest the most successful Elementary school in East Moline to raise money during Jump Rope for Heart Week. My challenge to your child is to get their parents to exercise with them by jumping rope.
Reminder while the weather is cold that students are not allowed in the building until 8:00 A.M. As long as your child is here by 8:20, they are on time for school. This is for safety reasons that the doors are locked. Also, remember that it is still important for your child to get to school every day. We have had a great decrease in absences so far this year and I hope that will continue!
A couple more dates to add to your calendar:
January 20th- MLK Day – NO ATTENDANCE
January 24th –All day In-Service (no student attendance)
